Stick Puppets Activity

Looking for a fun way to brighten a rainy day, spice up a dull week, or celebrate the ending of a stellar school year? Then you've come to the right place!

two catsFableVision is happy to offer this free, North Star Stick Puppet Activity that brings to life The North Star book by New York Times best-selling author/illustrator Peter H. Reynolds (Judy Moody, The Dot, Ish.)  Featuring printable puppet patterns illustrated by Peter, this activity was created exclusively by Maribeth Bush, founder of Can Do! the internationally-acclaimed “ability awareness” organization.

Gather some friends, create your North Star Stick Puppets by following the instructions below, and then put on your very own North Star Puppet Show! It's a great way to exercise your creative thinking and performing skills, while sharing The North Star story with others in your very own way.

Materials Needed: bird on sign

• Paper print-outs of The North Star Stick Puppet Patterns (see below)
• Popsicle or craft sticks (one for each puppet)
• Glue sticks or tape
• Colored markers or crayons
• Scissors (one pair for each person)

Step 1

Cut out the paper puppets, following the dashed lines.

Step 2

Color the paper cut-outs with markers and/or crayons.

Step 3

Glue or tape a popsicle stick to the back of each puppet, making sure that half of the stick extends from the bottom of the puppet (this is how you will hold the puppet).

Voila!

That's it! Now you're ready to start your very own North Star puppet show with a group of friends or classmates! Enjoy!
