But this will just be the beginning of what you can do. The examples below were created by teachers and parents, for use with corresponding Stationery Studio templates. You can use these ideas in your classroom, or create your own!

Lesson Title: Phonics

To reinforce the phonics and reading lessons, I created worksheets using Stationery Studio© designs that matched the spelling patterns. For example, for –ound and –ow I used the “Sound” border. For –ouse and –out I used the “House” shape. For long e I used the “Magnifying Glass” border. For sk blend I used the “Balloon Ride” border.

Lesson Title: Handwriting / Social Studies

For the Cinco de Mayo, I used the “Cinco de Mayo” border and wrote words in Spanish for the students to trace. On one side, I typed in cursive and the other in manuscript. I selected the black and white image so the children could color in the picture.

Cinco de Mayo

Lesson Title: African American History Month

We researched different instruments from Africa as part of an African American Alphabet Book. The students traced the letters and colored in the border. We also made instruments from recycled materials to match the photos from the BBC web site.

Lesson Title: Librarian Thanks

For National Library week, I used your “Book” shape and created a book report format for the students. The story starter was “Because this is National Library Week and you are a wonderful librarian, I wanted to tell you about a good book that I just read.”

National Book Week

Lesson Title: How-To Project

The students are now at the stage where they are asked to choose a template that relates to their topic. For example, the “how-to” project. The teacher modeled the process for writing a “how-to” and the children could pick their own border based on what their “how-to” was about. However, for some writings such as the sample of the math problem, every child was instructed to use the math border since the writing was math themed.

Lesson Title: "The Life of Martin Luther King, Jr." Timeline

Our class will be making a time line called the 'The Life of Martin Luther King, Jr.' They are writing a sentence or two and a picture depicting one part of Dr. King's life and accomplishments. We will be using the Martin Luther King, Jr. stationery border to write their sentences on the time line.

Lesson Title: Valentine's Letter

I'm also using the heart stationery by having kids write a Valentine's letter using candy hearts. For example, they can close the letter by writing I (candy heart saying love) and you.

Lesson Title: Handwriting and Colors

I really like Stationery Studio for the broken letter [trace font] option so my Kindergarteners can trace a word before asking them to write the word. I have made a conference schedule and journal pages as well. The possibilities are endless!

Lesson Title: Creating Student Books

This year, the Hillside first grade teachers and students are using Stationery Studio to create individual books for every student. Each student's published pieces will be printed and bound in a hardback book and with the variety of fabulous borders, no two books will look the same!
